New York Attorney
Lori Goldstein is a mediator and collaborative attorney based in New York and New Jersey. For more than 20 years, she has used her practice to successfully resolve thousands of conflicts outside of the courtroom, from beginning to end. Lori facilitates settlements either as a neutral in mediation, or as an advocate in the cooperative process of collaborative law. She is an active member of the bar in New York and New Jersey, and an inactive member of the California bar.
Lori discovered mediation in 1990 after working in corporate law for eight years. While she found that to be both intellectually stimulating and interesting, she felt it lacked the human connections necessary to her.
After seeing what could be accomplished through mediation,, she decided to devote her career to this practice. Several years later, Lori added collaborative law to her business, where she works along with another collaborative attorney, each representing one party, to reach a mutually satisfactory settlement.
Instead of focusing on hardline positions, Lori instead pays the most attention to needs and concerns. This allows her to explore and develop common ground, which helps preserve the dignity of all involved. Even in situations of high conflict, she can work cooperatively and find a solution that works for all parties.
Having someone’s feelings of pain, loss and disappointment acknowledged can lead to transformative change.
Mediation and collaborative law allow for parties to establish a working relationship that enables them to successfully co-parent their children, not just through their youth, but for their entire lives.
In her private practice, Lori facilitates divorces and separations, negotiates and drafts pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and handles couples mediation and other family disputes.
Lori is an advanced practitioner member of the NYS Council for Divorce Mediation, the Academy of Family Mediators, and the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater NY. She is also a member of the New Jersey Association for Professional Mediators.
Lori Goldstein received her mediation trainer certification through the NYS Unified Court System. Throughout her successful career, she has also taught mediation at Brooklyn Law School and is a former member of the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater NY Board of Directors. Previously, she served as the Director of the Victim Services Mediation Program.
Lori Goldstein works closely with all of her clients to ensure that they can get to a place where they are peacefully able to begin the next phase of their lives.
